About Metro Toronto Movement for Literacy
Metro Toronto Movement for Literacy (MTML) is 40-year-young non-profit organization working
to advance the issue of adult literacy. The need is great: today, four in ten Ontarians over the age
of 15 do not have the literacy skills they need to meet the demands of modern life
(Source: Responding to the International Adult Literacy and Skills Survey).

MTML is focused on advocacy and awareness building, helping community literacy providers
meet the needs of adult learners, and promoting the lifelong, integrated learning needed to
fully participate in today’s society. Acting as a hub or facilitator is a large part of MTML's role
as a regional network, serving as a forum for discussion, problem solving, service coordination
and communication with the Ontario government and other partners.
