Thursday July 12th: Looking Back, Moving Forward: The 5th Anniversary of the KGO Adult Literacy Program
This evening event will bring together learners, tutors, community members and political stakeholders to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the KGO Adult Literacy Program but also reflect on the work that has been done and envision of what is yet to come.
The purpose of Looking Back, Moving Forward is to:
- Increase the sense of community felt between families, youth, school staff, local organizations, and others living/working in KGO
- Bring community stakeholders together to explore issues related to adult literacy and co-create change
- Highlight and reflect on the achievements of the program
Looking Back, Moving Forward will consist of three parts:
Part One – Refreshments // Photo Exhibit // Networking
Members of the community will be treated to an exhibit that will showcase photos of the program from the last 5 years. Community members will mingle, eat as well as networking, and reconnect with friends during this session.
Part Two – Welcoming Remarks // Keynote Speaker // Learner & Tutor Stories
A short program that will consist of opening remarks, a keynote address (TBD), learner stories and tutor stories.
Part Three – Facilitated Community Co-Creating Session
For approximately 45 mins to 1 hour, members of the community will work together in helping to shape and vision plan on how the program can grow and evolve.
